About fingerdrum.io
A free library of original finger-drumming patterns you can play, slow down and practise in the browser.
Every pattern is a song kit
Instead of a single loop, each pattern gives you everything a song needs: an intro, the main groove, a chorus, one or more fills, and an outro. Full song plays them in order — Intro ×2, Main ×4 with a fill into the chorus, Chorus ×4, back to Main, then the Outro. You can also build your own order with the section chain.
Two views, one transport
- Instrument grid — rows are instruments, columns are steps. Darker cells are louder; a short bar is a ghost note; ▲ is an accent; ◆ is a grace note (flam, drag or two-pad layer).
- 4×4 pad view — pads are numbered 1–16 from the bottom-left, like an MPC. Each pad lights when it’s hit and shows the finger to use.
- Fingering — every note has a hand and finger: R2 is right index, L1 is left thumb (1 = thumb … 5 = little finger).
Practise
- Change the tempo (50–120% of the target, or type any BPM), use a count-in, loop a section.
- Tempo trainer: start slow and speed up automatically every few bars.
- Minus one: mute an instrument and play it yourself.
- The metronome has subdivisions, tap tempo and a gap-click mode to test your internal time.
Your controller, your layout
Controllers are laid out differently. On the Pads page you can assign any instrument to any pad (an instrument can sit on two pads for flams and rolls), save up to 10 layouts and share one as a link. No controller? Your keyboard works: Z X C V is the bottom row of pads, then A S D F, Q W E R and 1 2 3 4.
